Creating a Playlist for Success

Motivation is one of the most important factors to keep in mind in preparation for a workout. Therefore, enhancing one’s levels of motivation is essential. A simple change in mood can be the difference between completing a set to its fullest potential and moving at half-speed.

Listening to your favorite tunes can make your workout more fun. Your favorite tunes can reduce the perception of how hard a workout is! There are tips for how to maximize your physical fitness playlist.

Start by calculating your pace. The rhythm an individual trains at should dictate song selection. The workout pace should match the BPM (beats per minute) of the chosen songs. A general sweet spot for a given workout is 125 to 140 BPM.

It’s important to build a library by BPM to make the most informed playlist choices. Apps like BPM Tap or PaceDJ not only search your library according to BPM but also allow alterations to the speed of songs to fit a given rhythm.

Set your playlist up for success, let the beat build! Avoid variance in the music playlist and stay away from shuffle! Structure each playlist to enable an intentional increase in momentum.

Find songs that speak to you! Finding the balance between optimal BPM and motivating content is essential to getting the most from your playlist, so you get the most from your workout.

Curating your workout playlist isn’t the only method to increase motivation. Coupling your new and improved playlist with additional measures will maximize physical fitness efficiency.
